The Woodlands, is a dynamic community located within a natural forest, north of Houston, Texas and is home to 120,000 residents, 34 schools, more than 150 parks, more than 220 miles of pathways, over 4,000 acres of open space and over 1,800 acres of forest preserve. The Woodlands was founded in 1974 by George P. Mitchell and formation of The Woodlands Township occurred in 2010 with the merger of the Community Associations of The Woodlands, Texas and its entities with the Town Center Improvement District (TCID) of Montgomery County.
